PsiXpda Pocket PC – Worth or Waste
The recently launched PsiXpda pocket PC/UMPC device reminds me of yesteryears PC’s which had a low end spec sheet and a mind boggling price tag attached to them. Same is the case with this pocket PC. For $830 you get nothing when compared to a much cheaper ($799) Sony Vaio P pocket PC available at Amazon.
Comparing the features and spec sheets of both of the pocket PC’s you’ll get to know that it isn’t at all a sweet deal to buy the PsiXpda pocket PC.
Specification sheet of PsiXpda pocket PC

Specification sheet of Sony Vaio P Pocket PC

Dimensions: 246mm x 122mm x 20.3 mm
Weight: 635g
Comparing the spec sheet of both the PsiXpda and Sony Vaio P pocket Pc’s, it is clear that
1. Sony Vaio P has a better performing and powerful processor under its hood (20% quicker CPU).
2. Sony Vaio P has double the RAM of what is there in PsiXpda
3. Storage space is also four times more in Sony Vaio P as compared to PsiXpda.
4. Screen size is bigger of Sony Vaio P (8”) than what is there in PsiXpda (5”)
5. Operating system is more advanced in Sony Vaio P
6. Dimension wise, Sony Vaio P is bigger because it houses a bigger screen and has more to offer in terms of performance. But when the weight of both the machines is compared, Sony Vaio P is 200 grams heavier than the PsiXpda which is quite negligible.
7. Now comes the most important factor, the pricing. Price wise Sony Vaio is cheaper than PsiXpda by $31. More at a less price. Ever heard of that?
The only plus point PsiXpda has over Sony Vaio is that PsiXpda houses a touch screen display. Well touch screen on a 5” display. A display which has icons half the size of my fingers and on top of it accurately tap start menu items in Windows XP which are hurdled so close. Quite an exercise for my fingers.
I’m sure there will be some people out there who would pay $830 for the PsiXpda. But sorry guys, I am not one of those.

Nice post mate!! Keep up the great writing and we’ll keep coming back for more
Thank you for the information given here for free! Keep working, great job!
I’m afraid that you are MISSING THE POINT:
The PSIXPDA is the same size as the former PSION S5MX (I just measured it because I still have two of them), which I carried in my pants pocket for years, after carrying the LZ64 then the S3, S3a and the S3c for years and years before the S5mx.
Do you think you will carry in the pocket of your pant a Sony Vaio P which is 9.7 INCHES by 4.8 INCHES versus a PSIXPDA which is only 7 inches by 3.5?
What is the use of buying a “pocket” computer if it does NOT fit in your pocket???
Whatever the price, if it does NOT fit in my pocket, I am not interested. The old PSION S5mx and now the PSIXPDA do fit in my pants side pockets!
